It is time to get ready for some snow.
All day Wednesday the city of Sioux City was checking their snow plows and dump trucks.
"From the salt, we get a lot of corrosion issues that shorten out lights. We want to make sure all of our warning lights and operation lights work properly," said Brian Fahrendholz, Sioux City Field Services Manager.
Besides checking lights and mirrors on trucks, they added tire chains to keep the trucks from sliding in the icy conditions.
The city also prepared over a thousand tons of ice salt and sand to be put on the roads.
"Citizens can be confident in the fact that we are prepared for the snow coming. Everybody drive safe, give yourself a little extra time, be patient, and we'll get it cleaned as fast as we can," said Fahrendholz.
The city wants to remind folks a couple things when snow removal is underway:
1) "Don't Crowd the Plow". It is unsafe to drive too close to snow plows, so give them enough room.
2) Don't park on the streets. If you have available off street parking, use it. It's easier for snow plows to clean streets that way.
