The town of Little Sioux, Iowa has been hit hard by a winter blast that blew in Wednesday night and left Thursday morning.

Some areas saw as much as eight inches of snow and all that snow caused some major problems. But there is one in particular-a major power outage.

Keith Armstrong and his family were left in the dark but luckily they have a wood burning stove in their home that helped keep it somewhat warm.

"It's not good, it would be a lot better if we had the power back on," said Armstrong.

But with temperatures dropping below 20-degrees, some residents like Richard Swift, were forced to leave their homes and stay with their neighbors to keep warm.

"We had to go to a friend's house in order to get heat because he has a propane stove, and that's the only way it's keeping his house warm," he said.

Mid-American Energy crews have been working diligently to restore power to the area. But they were not the only ones working hard. Snow plows were also working around the clock.

"I do that around town every time it snows, it gives me something to do," said Dave Meyers, a local resident who helps neighbors plow their drive-ways.

Some families said they lost their power the night before at around 9 p.m.
