Rick Metteer has been delivering mail in Sioux City for almost 20 years now. That's close to 2o Iowa winters he 's spent weathering the storms, going door to door, and he does it all with a smile.
"How are ya today?"
Even on a frigid winter day, with wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour, and negative temperatures, Metteer doesn't think twice about it.
"Well it's kind of like when you were a kid and how you like to go play around in the snow and run around, I guess I never got over that," said Metteer.
Plus, he's got a job to do. With the busy holiday season, and more than 600 houses along his route, Metteer has to hustle to get it all done.
"The days are short now so we need to make sure we keep up a good pace so were not out here too late."
With plenty of extra layers to keep him warm, "I've got an extra tee-shirt, and this hat it isn't pretty but it's got nice lining."
Metteer trudges through the snow, determined to get the mail delivered on time, especially this time of year.
"Merry Christmas!"..It can be cold... it can be uncomfortable at times, but then you got to think too, there's a lot of people who get a lot of joy out of what we bring sometimes."
