The Dakota Sioux Tribe in Santee, Nebraska, are honoring the 150th anniversary of the executions of 38 of its own.

The men were hung on December 26th, 1862, in Mankato, Minnesota. It is the largest mass execution in American history.

The deaths marked the end of the Dakota War of 1862. The tribe has long honored the occasion, but this year's event includes horses dressed in regalia with drapes commemorating each of the men that were killed.
