All Sioux City pet licenses expire on December 31st of the license year.  Renewal letters were mailed to current pet license holders the week of November 26th reminding them to renew their pet's license.

The 2013 pet tags are available at the Customer Service Center in City Hall; Sioux City Animal Adoption and Rescue, 2400 Hawkeye Drive; or at participating veterinarians' office.  The cost of the license is $10 for neutered pets or $30 for intact pets.  Pets must be vaccinated for rabies before a license can be issued.  Citizens may begin applying for their 2013 pet licenses now.

Reminder, Excess Pets Permits expire 2 years after the issued date, letters are sent to permit holders 30 days before they expire reminding them that it is time to reapply for their permit.  The Excess Pets Permit applies to dogs and cats only and limits each household to three animals with no more than two from the same species.  For example, a household can be home to 2 dogs and 1 cat but not 3 dogs or 3 cats without obtaining the Excess Pets Permit.  The $10 permit allows you to exceed the limit and is good for 2 years from the date of issue.  All pets must be licensed and vaccinated for rabies before a permit can be issued.

Call 224-7387 for information on pet licenses or the Excess Pets Permit.  All pet licensing and permit information is also available at www.sioux-city.org.
