It came as quite a shock. Some Siouxland shoppers saying on Wednesday morning that "After Christmas Shopping" crowds were smaller than last year.

"I mean there were people out but there was no shoving, pushing or carts in the way. We just walked through and did our thing. It was not crowded at all," said Linda Flewelling of Moville.

The day after Christmas is one of the "Top Five Shopping Days" of the year nationally, but some shoppers in Sioux City said that on Wednesday morning several of the stores they visited didn't have many crowds.

Why?

Shoppers spoken to said "Pre-Christmas" sales could have pulled people in earlier rather than later.

"I'd say the crowd isn't that large," said Ilene Dirks of Sioux City. "I think everybody did their shopping before-hand. Sales were earlier this year than last year."

"I did do some "Pre-Christmas" shopping and there were quite a few items on sale previously," said Carol Hall of Anthon, IA.

Shoppers said that even if some of the stores had fewer crowds this year, they'll be back next year to do "After Christmas Shopping" all over again whether or not crowds are big or small.
