Try as they might, for some folks, the roads these days leave much to be desired.
Clara Barkley of Sioux City said, "The road that I live off of which is in Riverside has not been plowed yet. So that was really fun to try to drive through it. I almost took out a truck today because, once again, road has not been plowed."
City road crews have been out day and night cleaning up after snow that just keeps falling.
"Sun has actually worked to break up the snow and ice so it's cleaning up real nice," said Ron Isaacson, a city plower.
"The main roads are fine, but the little off roads are bad," said Barkley.
That's because the city is divided up into 3 priorities.
Priority one: Major roads with the most emergency vehicle traffic, like Hamilton Blvd.
Priority two: next busiest.
And Priority three: considered residential.
By now, they're already in priority 3.
And as for windrows, many people don't understand them, but city plower Ron Isaacson says the middle of the roads is really the only place he and other plowers can drop the snow until it gets picked up later.
Isaacson said, "The same equipment that picks up the snow is also the same equipment that is in the residential areas moving the snow there. So we have to get all the streets cleared first before we can actually do any kind of pick up of snow downtown."
