Snowmobiling.
It's a sport that some folks just can't get enough of.
"It's just so much fun," said Ally Montgomery of Spirit Lake. "You get to go really fast!"
It's a popular sport and fun for many but can also be dangerous at the same time.
"It's the operator. A majority of the time, accidents happen because the operator was going too fast and didn't know what they were doing," said Dan Delperdang, a snowmobile education course instructor in Spirit Lake.
Each year, snowmobile clubs like the "Dickinson County Snow Hawks" in Spirit Lake, sponsors a snowmobile education course, giving riders a few tips on how to be safe while driving.
Here are some tips to remember:
1) Make sure you are covered from head to toe in warm clothing and that you always wear a helmet and eye protection.
2) Before starting your snowmobile, you should check the throttle, brake, and tracks of the snowmobile so that they're not frozen or sticking.
3) If you drive along roadways, always follow the road's speed limit.
4) And, if you're on a lake or private property, make sure you drive "under" your ability.
