Sioux Falls has started its third year of testing snow gates, devices that block the snow from piling up at the end of driveways when streets are plowed.
The devices were tested only twice last year, but officials hope for more snow and more testing this winter.
The city council voted last week to hold an election in 2014 to let folks in Sioux Falls decide whether they want the snow gates to actually be used permanently.
Currently, they're only being used on a few of the city streets. The test will determine how much extra time, fuel and money it takes to drop the snow gate at every driveway.
