Mountain Lion Count Lower Than Expected In SD

The count continues, slowly, but surely, going from 6 to at least 8, now, on dead mountain lions, that is.

Hunting season started six days earlier than normal, this year, in South Dakota's Black Hills. Hunting experts expected the total number would be higher, by now, because the lions are easier to track after snowfall settles.

The season will end as soon as the 100 cat quota is met or when 70 females are killed, whichever happens first.
