It's the most popular New Years resolution out there: to lose weight and working out is a necessary step to getting there.

Just ask Greg Welch. He's visiting from Lincoln and still had to find time to hit the treadmill.

Greg Welch said, "I'm making a commitment to try to get down to 200 pounds and to do a Century Ride in Lake Tahoe with my friend Marv here and you have to be pretty good shape to ride 100 miles in a day."

So, the work starts now.

Right when you walk into the Y, there's a sign that reads: "Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going."

The YMCA's Chris DeRoin said, "Just persistence and consistence. It takes about 6 weeks to build a new habit and stay with it."

Katelyn Henry's got the motivation. She was signing up for a membership.

"I'm getting a pass to the Y so I can do my New Years solution of losing weight. I had a set of twins so I'm having to try to lose that baby weight," said Katelyn Henry.
