It may have taken almost all day, but the first new year's baby was born here in Sioux City just a minute before 9 p.m. Monday night. And for the two lucky parents, it still hasn't set in yet.
"It's a shocker,"said mom, Jessica Anderson.
Anderson and her husband still can't believe their little bundle of joy was the first baby to be born on new years day here in Sioux City. Lakota John Bell was born at 8:59 p.m. on January 1st, 2013. Something his parents were definitely not expecting, considering a C-section birth was scheduled for January 4th.
"My heart was just pumping so fast. It was going a mile a minute I'd say. I was walking back and forth in the room and I was thinking I was going to put a hole in the floor, you know just pacing back and forth. It was pretty crazy."
Both parents say they couldn't think of a better way to start off the new year. And Lakota has an older brother who, his parents say, is super excited to him come home. Lakota John bell was born seven pounds, five ounces, and 20 inches long. Mom, dad and baby are all doing great.
