A Florida man has died after being struck by a car in Sioux City. Authorities say Daniel Leighninger, 54, of Bradenton, Florida was struck by a car on the 3200 of Gordon Drive. It happened around 6:00 Wednesday night.
According to the police report, Leighninger tried to cross the street in an area without a designated crosswalk near the driveway intersection to Hy-vee. He was struck by a car and sustained a head injury with severe bleeding.
Leighninger was transported to Mercy Medical Center, where he died in the emergency room.
An investigation is ongoing, however, speed, alcohol or drugs are not suspected to be a factor.
