Burgers, fries and hot dogs are concession food favorites folks cannot wait to sink their teeth into at The Tyson Events Center. But now, the city of Sioux City and its catering company, Centerplate, are offering up some more, healthier options at the concession stands. And folks like Amy Meek who is from the Siouxland area could not agree more.
"People come here, you know and they need a healthier option," she said.
It is all in an effort for Sioux City to become a Blue Zone city. The Blue Zones are part of a national campaign to get cities across the country healthier.
Chef Alan Clark says the change comes with this day and age.
"We feel now, the trend is and the need is that we have to provide some healthier alternatives because a lot of folks are a lot more health conscience today, about their health and eating properly."
But changes are not only being made for The Tyson Events Center. The city plans to expand in other venues as well, and although folks look forward to their old time favorites, they don't mind more options available.
