It was just off Highway 20 in Early Iowa, where Kirk Riley Levin slid off into a ditch. It was shortly after that a man arrived, only trying to help. But what he may have done, is possibly saved a young girl's life."
"I'm sure that she was scared to death."
Gary Schram was just up the road from his farm in Early, Iowa when he spotted a car in the ditch. That's when he decided to do the neighborly thing and pull over to see if they needed help. That's when he saw 21-year old Kirk Levin outside the car.
Schram never got out of his own truck, but said he rolled down the window and asked Levin if he need some help. Levin refused. But Schram decided to stick around anyways. Minutes later he says a young girl jumped out of the passenger side door.
"At that point a girl had jumped out of the car screaming she had been taken, and that he was going to hurt her," said Schram.
Schram says that's when Levin took off running.
"Through the field then under that bridge."
Immediately, Schram got the young girl inside his truck, and drove a quarter mile up the road to his farm. Once there she called her dad to come pick her up.
"It's just a real bad, sad deal."
