The City/County Law Enforcement Center/ Dakota County Emergency Management Agency and the Dakota County Health Department have partnered in subscribing to the Global Connect Emergency Notification System. The system is an additional tool available to police, fire, rescue and emergency management personnel that allows mass notification of the public in emergency situations which might require evacuation, sheltering-in-place, neighborhood lock down and similar occurrences. In some areas the system has been used successfully to locate missing children and Alzheimer's patients.
All calls are generated through the Law Enforcement Center and are accompanied by a recorded voice message. Calls can be generated in both English and Spanish.
Landline phones throughout the county were automatically enrolled in the system. Cell phones must be registered individually by going to the South Sioux City web page, clicking on "departments, then "police" and then clicking on the "Emergency Notification" tab. All information is private and never made available to any third party.
There is an opt out feature if you choose to do so at a later time.
Additional information can be obtained by calling Pat Foust, LEC Director, at 402-494-7512.
