Rick Bouquet makes a living by raising dairy cows in South Sioux City. He's seen his share of challenges on the farm, but never anything like this.
"It affects my business, it affects my bottom-line," said Bosquet, in reference to plastic bags blowing over to his farm located just behind a Walmart.
Rick says five of his cows were killed last year by plastic bags. That is why he's asking the South Sioux City, City Council to ban the use of plastic bags.
"It's just gotten to the point where our cattle, they don't know any better...not to eat them, and they do, and it gets into their stomach and they cant pass them, it kills them," he said.
Now some consumers in the area aren't in agreement about this one, and the proposal is getting mixed reactions.
"It would be a hassle, because so many people don't think of bringing their own bags." said Clara Magdaz, of Dakota County.
Others like Jordan Martinson think it is a good idea though.
"I think it's a great idea, it cuts them the cost for having plastic bags in land fills," said Martinson.
As for Bosquet, he hopes to change enough minds too get his town to back the idea of "bagging" plastic bags.
