Slight Delay For Tax Refunds

You should expect to see a slight delay for this year's tax refund. Especially if you normally file early.

That is all due to the late deal Congress made to avoid The Fiscal Cliff. Since that deal came so late, the I.R.S did not have time to finalize 2012 tax laws.

While some folks may be a little upset with the news, John Williams, a Certified Public Accountant, says it may be a good thing in the long run because it will help protect against fraud.

"With all this delay, it makes it much more difficult for people who perpetuate in fraud and to pull it off, and the IRS has been criticized by congress for all these tax returns processed, before they've had a chance to verify the information on the return," he said.

Folks should be able to start filing their returns at the end of January.  But others with more complex returns will expect a delay till February and even March.
