It's always a pain finding out how to get rid of that old Christmas Tree after the holidays are over with. This year, many decided to donated their trees to help out local outdoor lovers.

Between two and three hundred Christmas Trees were donated to the Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center - those trees have now been turned into mulch which is going to help make for smooth walking trails. Jim Henning, a Resource Naturalist with the Woodbury County Conservation Board, says, "It helps out the Nature Center, because we can cover our trails and give people a nice surface to walk on and it helps eliminate erosion."

While they received hundreds of trees, they still could have used even more. Henning says, "We have two miles of trails out here at the Nature Center and all the pile...might get us one trail done for the summer. So it takes a lot."

The deadline to donate your tree has already passed so it's too late for this year, but Henning does encourage you to donate next year.
