When it comes to preventing the spread of the flu, Sioux City businesses are taking extra precautions like making sure everything in their office is sprayed down with sanitizer.
"From the front door handles, to keyboards, to phones, we spray like crazy here," said Kathy Allan, Business Manager at Neuman Monson Wictor Architects.
Sioux City churches are also trying to do their part in keeping the flu at bay.
The Cathedral of the Epiphany is asking people to avoid shaking hands during services.
"I think it's good. I think we want to be as healthy as we possibly can," said Pete Groetken, member at the Cathedral of the Epiphany.
During Holy Communion, the church usually has the congregation drink wine from the same challis but has stopped because of the flu outbreak.
"Even though the alcohol content is high enough that usually there's not much risk than that. It's just one of those things to rather be safe than sorry," said Father Brent Lingle.
Sioux City schools are also taking extra precautions.
The district is paying special attention to were people are getting sick.
"We try and keep tabs on the spots in town where it could be more prevalent or pronounced," said Dr. Paul Gausman, Superintendent of Sioux City Schools.
