Sioux City Holds National Day of Service Event

Saturday's "National Day of Service" marks the beginning of activities leading up to the inauguration of President Obama.

And to celebrate, folks in Siouxland joined together to honor Dr. Martin Luther King's legacy by giving back to people in the community. The public event was held at the Sioux City Museum where a silent auction to benefit a non-profit organization called, "Three Rivers Independent Living". The organization aims to help those with special needs.

Maria Rundquist, the host and organizer of the event said it's great to see the community join together and help by making donations and participating in these types of events.

The event ran from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.. Free food, drinks and music were provided.
