Aside from the presidential inauguration, Monday was reason for another celebration - the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Junior.

In honor of the holiday, young students at Leeds Elementary learned all about the man who played a key role in the civil rights movement, as students a bit older from Briar Cliff University here, read aloud his story.

So what'd the students take away from the reading?

Ethan Smith, a second grader at Leeds, explains, "So, he gave a big speech because he didn't like the laws. He didn't like that blacks had to be treated unfairly than the whites."

Other students say if they can learn anything from Dr. King, it's to treat others with kindness, no matter what they may look like.
