On February 5th, in Woodbury County, there will be three polling places open for three special elections held that day and polling hours will be 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Woodbury County Auditor & Recorder Pat Gill announced Thursday that the polling place for the February 5th Special Election involving Western Iowa Tech Community College and the Sioux City Community School District will be moved from the Long Lines Family Rec Center to the Woodbury County Courthouse due to the conflict of parking at the Tyson Event Center which will be hosting the Journey/Pat Benatar/Loverboy Concert that evening.

"The intent of conducting these elections in this manner is to make it easier for voters to participate and save $10,000.00 for the taxpayers of Woodbury County. We conducted a similar election two years ago and experienced those results. We encourage Woodbury County Voters to avoid frigid temperatures, save themselves some money and enjoy the convenience of casting their vote in the warmth of their own homes," said Gill.

Prior to Election Day, all voters in Woodbury County can cast their ballots by mail by requesting an absentee ballot from the Auditor's Office, vote absentee at a satellite site located at Western Iowa Tech near the cafeteria on January 29th and 30th from 9 a.m.  until 4 p.m. or vote early in person at the Auditor's Office in the Courthouse during regular business hours.

In the Sioux City Community School District, voters will be voting on a question to renew a levy for the benefit of WITCC and to fill a vacancy on the Sioux City Community School District Board. The only polling place that will be open on Election Day for that election will be in the Woodbury County Courthouse and only voters in the Sioux City Community School District will be able to vote there on Election Day.

In the Westwood Community School District, voters will be voting on the WITCC question and to fill a vacancy on the Westwood Community School District Board. The only polling place that will be open on Election Day for that election will be at the Sloan Community Hall and only voters in the Westwood Community School District will be able to vote there on Election Day.

Voters in the Lawton-Bronson, Maple Valley-Anthon Oto, River Valley, Sergeant Bluff-Luton and Woodbury Central School Districts will be voting on the WITCC question. The only polling place that will be open on Election Day for that election will be in Anthon at the Anthon Community Center. This will be the only location that voters in these school districts will be able to cast their votes on Election Day.
