If you were in the north or east surrounding areas around Sioux City Sunday morning, you were probably slipping.

"A friend of mine said he saw two cars in the ditch. Another friend said he did about a one-eighty on the highway, and he was only doing like 30 miles an hour," said Mark Held of Hinton, Iowa.

Much of Siouxland was in a "freezing rain advisory" Sunday morning, making the roads slick and hard to drive on.

Cars made their way into ditches, and dangerous conditions even forced some roads to close for a while.

A state snow plow went into a ditch in Plymouth County and had part of the highway closed for over 2 hours.

Parts of Highway 75 were closed in Sioux and Plymouth County but re-opened.

Truck drivers on the road said they had a tough time pulling off the road to make pit stops.

"I had good traction until I got off the side of the road and then it was really slick," said Lenny Beiermann who drove up from Columbus, Nebraska.

With the icy and slushy roads, drivers said they tried to take it slow and be as cautious as much as they could.

"I try to watch the roads and make sure it's not icy or anything and really slow down and be careful," added Beiermann.
