Plans to build a Walgreens on Hamilton Blvd. moved forward Monday, but not without some suggestions.
The Sioux City City Council approved the first reading to rezone the possible Walgreens site at West 19th and Hamilton.
Currently, there are 4 homes there.
But there were concerns. They included economic stability issues and traffic illegally going from Perry Creek Plaza where Bomgaar's is straight across 18th Street to Walgreens.
Mayor Bob Scott said, "To allow traffic across, in and out of that shopping mall. They can go down and get on Hamilton, they can still in Walgreens, it's not going to distract from that business one bit."
Sarah Stevens lives nearby the Walgreens site and has some concerns, "There's already an 8 block radius where there's already the same things being provided that Walgreens would provide. And there are so many businesses that come in and out of that corridor that stay for a few months if at all."
The Council suggests having a raised median rather than the planned painted one to fix the potential traffic issue.
