If you're hoping to get your tax return back early this year, stop hoping.  It's just not going to happen.  In fact, for the first time in years, the I–R–S is not even accepting returns until the end of January.  On top of that there are 30 different credits that you can't file for until late February or March.

So even when the I–R–S begins accepting those exemptions, you'll have to wait even longer. The reason for the hold up?  Congress and the fiscal cliff fight.

"Only because Congress dinked around till Jan 2nd to pass their laws," said accountant Rick DeHamer.  "I mean they were going to throw out all this stuff and then they like decided to bring it back," added De Hamer.
