The city of Sioux City is on the verge of finding out if it will be called one of the healthiest communities in the state.
In our area Spencer has already been chosen as a Blue Zone Demonstration Community, and tomorrow the next 6 cites will be announced.
Sioux City hopes to be in the running.
The city of Sioux City has spent a lot of time trying to become a Blue Zone Community.
A blue zone community is a place were folks try to live longer lives by eating healthier and trying to incorporate exercise into their everyday lives.
If the city is chosen as a Blue Zone Community the project will send experts here to help the city make healthy changes.
Something the city says it's already started.
City Manager Paul Eckert says, "Whether we get it or not, we've already seen great improvements folks working together just last month, in our Convention Center, our Orpheum, our Auditorium, our ball park; we created a healthier diet."
The announcement will be made tomorrow morning in Des Moines.
