Turning on the faucet and getting a clean glass of water. It's something most of us take for granted.
But for Gloria Wolfe and her family in Macy, Nebraska, clean water is no guarantee.
"It's bad," said Gloria.
Just recently a main water line broke. That line has since been repaired but there are actually eight other smaller breaks.
"The Omaha Tribe doesn't have enough equipment to repair all these leaks simultaneously nor do they have the man power," said Carroll Webster Jr., Emergency Management Director of the Omaha Tribe.
When something like this happens, the water is no longer considered safe to drink.
So that means people like Gloria have to boil all their water.
"We have no water to do hygiene with. We have no laundry. We have no cooking. We have to boil water," added Gloria.
Unfortunately water problems like this happen quite often in Macy.
Something that Webster is always prepared for.
"You don't get used to it, you get prepared for it is a way to put it," he added.
Right now, the town's school has been out of secession the last few days. Webster plans to furnish the school with bottled water and have school starting up again later this week.
As for fixing the eight leaks, Webster said it could be done in the next couple weeks.
But until then the town is open to donations of bottled water and money donations.
Those can be sent to Omaha Tribe Emergency Management, 303 Main Street, Walthill, NE 68067 or call (402) 846-5374.
