Who deserves a valentine more than a local hero serving overseas? Nobody.
That was the sentiment behind Support Siouxland Soldiers Valentine care-packing event held Thursday at its office.
The group packed 31 boxes that night and as always, volunteers could put together a package for someone special, or a stranger in need of some love.
Volunteer Jennifer Jepsen of Bronson, IA said, "I grew up with a military father. My mom was a nurse, we were trained service people. I think they enjoy it, greatly. A little piece of home to reach them, they like it."
Valentines were written out by kids eager to let the between 20-30 Siouxland Soldiers deployed know that they were thinking of them.
