Friday, February 1st, is "Give Kids A Smile Day." All across the country dentists are providing free services to children.
Sunnybrook Dental in Sioux City is giving hundreds of kids, a better smile.
This is an annual event where low income families can take their children in for free dental services.
Dalton Fixsel says he received x–rays, and they cleaned his teeth; they also told him to brush his teeth more often.
In the state of Iowa only 41% of children receive dental care.
On this special day Sunnybrook Dental will see anywhere from 50-100 children.
Dr. Mindy J. Stevens says, "We like to make sure the kids in our community are taken care of and those kids that don't have a chance or an opportunity to see the dentist that they at least can get in, get seen."
Dr. Stevens not only takes care of her patients, she also takes time to educate the children and their parents on proper dental hygiene.
