The streets of Sioux City quickly turned to sheets of ice Saturday afternoon, causing dozens of accidents all around town. Even some folks with cars fit for this type of weather had a hard time.

"When I would come to a stop I would slide, and I have four wheel drive and I still slid so I was kind of nervous," said Candy Lopez, a Sioux City native.

At least eight people were taken to the hospital after two separate accidents took place on highway 75.

A black S.U.V. driving eastbound was struck by a green Suburban. Then a red pick up truck pulled over to help, but it ended up getting rear-ended by another S.U.V.

Another accident near 27th and Floyd left a car with damage to the front end. And shortly around 4 p.m. traffic going south on Interstate 29 heading was almost at a stand still due to a white car that crashed into the median, near the Hamilton Boulevard exit.

A staggering number of 25-car accidents were reported in Sioux City alone.
