It turns out the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray had a starring role at Super Bowl XLVII after all, with the game's MVP, quarterback Joe Flacco, winning one for his impressive performance in the Ravens victory over the 49ers.
With General Motors choosing not to advertise at the Super Bowl this year, there were many, including us, still expecting its star car, the Corvette, to appear somewhere.
Many sports fans may have overlooked the Corvette that appeared on the field at Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, despite its bright red finish, though no doubt it caught the eye of numerous sportscar fans, including those at the game and those watching at home.
At a ceremony after the game, Flacco was presented with the keys to his new ride by Chevrolet dealer Rick Flick. Unfortunately, the Ravens star will have to wait a few more months until he can hop behind the wheel of the 2014 Corvette Stingray he just won as the car hasn't entered production yet (GM used a pre-production unit at the game).
Production at the Corvette's Bowling Green assembly plant in Kentucky is scheduled to commence in the third quarter of the year.
Note, last year's MVP, Eli Manning, also took home a Corvette for his efforts during the Big Game.
