On Tuesday, the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors approved a $3 million dollar grant agreement between the Iowa Department of Transportation and the county to repair and construct roads near CF Industries in Sioux City.

The county plans to repair parts of 260th Street and add turning lanes to some of Port Neal road by CF Industries.

The work is all part of the "RISE" or "Revitalize Iowa's Sound Economy" project.

The county hopes the improvements will not only help ease traffic in and out of CF Industries but also make way for future projects like the Liberty Park Urban Renewal Area.

"If Liberty Park develops, if Southbridge ever begins to move south, this is going to make that Port Neal interchange much more accessible for any industrial development in the Southbridge area or in the Liberty Park area," said Mark Nahra, Woodbury County Engineer.

The county will have to match about $1.4 million dollars to the Iowa DOT's grant.

Part of that is already put into the county's budget.

Construction and repairs on the roads will start late this summer.
