There was a steady flow of people coming in and out the doors at the American Legion in South Sioux City, Nebraska, Tuesday night. People were hoping to learn more about one particular project that may soon be built in their own backyards.
Folks got the chance to speak with representatives from Northern Natural Gas Company. The company is proposing to build a 6.5 mile gas line from Fremont Nebraska through Dakota County, to help with the billion dollar expansion project of CF Industries.
Nancy Krikholm, says under the current proposal, part of her farming property would be used. So she went to the open house to learn more about the project.
"I do feel better. It's more explained, detailed about where it's going to be located. It looks like they planned well. And they are very willing to work with us, the land owners," said Krikholm, who lives near Homer.
Northern Natural Gas says it is extremely interested in hearing from folks in the area, before moving ahead with the project. It plans to take information from all the meetings, and have the next draft of the proposal available in April.
Northern Natural Gas is holding another open house Wednesday, in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa. At the American Legion, 901 Topaz, Sergeant Bluff, IA. It starts at 6 p.m.
