A former University of South Dakota student is suing a fraternity and several members, saying he was injured in a 2010 hazing incident.

The Argus Leader reports that Matthew Cronan said in court documents that he was encouraged to drink excess amounts of alcohol in preparation for a pledge skit held at Sigma Nu in Vermillion. He says he suffered traumatic brain injuries that resulted in surgery and a lengthy hospitalization.

Cronan is seeking damages in excess of $300 thousand dollars. The fraternity is now closed.
