"Checks" of different kind got handed out on the ice at the Tyson Events Center Thursday night. Sioux City Musketeers players and coaches were front and center for the 15th edition of "Faceoff For Charity" the teams annual benefit supporting Sioux City's Boys and Girls Home and Family Services.
The evening included an Applebees dinner served by the players, games for kids and a sports memorabilia auction. Headed into this year's benefit more than $400,000 dollars had been raised for the organization.
Boys and Girls Home Vice President of Development Terri Dooley says the event is one of the organizations biggest fund raisers of the year.
"We have developed a very special relationship with the Musketeers organization and specifically many of the players. While Boys and Girls Home obviously is a big winner thanks to the event, I know the players also gain a great deal. I have had several players, past and present, tell me how fortunate they feel after meeting and hearing the stories of our kids. We really are grateful for all that the organization puts into the event," said Dooley.
Faceoff For Charity 2013 continues Friday and Saturday when the Musketeers welcome Fargo and Des Moines to the Tyson Events Center. Dozens of silent auction items will be up for bid each night. All proceeds benefit Boys and Girls Home and Family Services.
