Three thousand smoke detectors are set to go out to homes that need them all across Iowa.
Two big–time grants allowed the fire marshall to purchase the detectors. 17 fire departments around Iowa, including Sioux City, Denison and Storm Lake will hand them out in their neighborhoods.
This is the third time the state has used this program. In that time it's given out more than 33–thousand smoke alarms.
