with tears in their eyes, the husband and wife couple who rents the house on the 2600 block of 10th street in Sioux city say they just moved in a month and a half ago and had just gotten settled in, before Saturday's fire.
Boarded up, and severely damaged. Skeletal beams is all that remains after a house fire in Sioux city. Just before noon on Saturday, crews responded to a fire at 2619 10th street. Not knowing if anyone was inside at the time, fire fighters began battle the flames.
"it was fully engulfed in flames, coming out the front windows and porch," said brad Robinson, assistant fire chief in Sioux city.
The husband and wife who rent the home say they had just left to run some errands and grab lunch, when not even 20 minutes later, they get a call from 9-1-1 dispatcher telling them their house is on fire.
"severe, there's severe damage," said Robinson.
Hours later, fire crews were still on the scene trying to determine the cause of the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. As for the family, the Red Cross was able to help them with a place to stay.
