Lawmakers in Iowa are trying to improve education by fighting bullies who scare kids from even going to school.

Representative Bruce Hunter proposed new legislation that asks the department of public safety, local police, and schools to come together to find a way to fight cyber bullying.

Right now, laws don't consider bullying that happens on the internet off of school grounds "legal bullying."  A new law would change that.

"It's standing in the way of them getting a proper education and actually coming to school wanting to learn," says Hunter.  "It has some devastating affects on that child's well being that we need to care of," Hunter added.

The bill already has support from Democrats, but Hunter hopes Republicans will consider passing the bill.
