(Sioux City, Iowa) - The top four seeds posted wins on Wednesday as the 2013 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women's Postseason Basketball Championship got underway with quarterfinal round action.
Top seed Morningside posted a
66-44 win over 8th seeded Hastings in Sioux City, Iowa. Also in Sioux City 4th seeded Briar Cliff was a winner over five seed Dakota Wesleyan 80-67. On the bottom of the bracket second seeded Concordia posted a home win over 7th Dordt 75-63 and three seed Northwestern was a home winner over 6th seed Mount Marty 89-63.
On Saturday in the GPAC Semifinals it will be fourth seed Briar Cliff at top seed Morningside, while two seed Concordia will host three seed Northwestern. Both games will tip off at 3pm.
The Mustangs went 17-3 in the league to win the GPAC regular season championship and secured an automatic berth to the NAIA Women's Division II National Tournament in Sioux City.
GPAC Championship Tuesday, sponsored by Rawlings, will be on Tuesday, February 26. The GPAC Postseason Champion garners an automatic berth to the NAIA National Basketball Tournament (the runner-up gains the berth if the regular season champion (Morningside) wins the postseason).
