Fire Destroys Historic Bank in Laurel, NE

The Fire Marshall says the blaze that destroyed a bank and insurance office in Laurel, NE Thursday morning started on the second floor of the bank.

The fire broke out shortly before 6am on Thursday, several crews from surrounding towns were dispatched to the scene.  The fire completely gutted the Laurel National Bank.  A historic structure dating back to 1902.

Crews evacuated the area around the buildings in downtown Laurel.  As of 1pm Thursday crews were still on scene working to put the flames out.  There were no injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A fire broke out in downtown Laurel, Nebraska shortly before 6:00am Thursday morning.

The Laurel Volunteer Fire Department was the first on scene. Five other Fire Departments have responded and are helping to fight the blaze.

We have a crew headed to the scene and will bring you the latest information as it becomes available.
