With the roads getting slick and snow covered travelers are doing the smart thing by pulling off the road, and local hotels are prepared.

Karen Jeffries from Days Inn in Sioux City says, "We've got to be understanding about it, and with the interstate and 75 both being close to here, we get several stranded ones."

Karen Jeffries says sometimes they have nobody stop, and other times they get completely swamped!

On occasion they will offer discounts, depending on the road situation.

Jeffries says, "A lot of times we do, but that's the preference of each hotel. I mean that's not normal it's the preference of the hotel. We do have a soft spot for people who get stranded we have to be understanding about it."

Jeffries also said travelers are usually more than happy to stop, and enjoy the perks the hotel offers such as the hot tub, a warm bed, and even cable TV.

The manager at the Marina Inn in South Sioux City today said its not always out of town travelers, sometimes locals will spend the night at the hotel to ensure they make it to work in the morning.
