The phones have been ringing off the hook at the Days Inn in Sioux City, with dozens of people making last minute reservations.
"They're just saying the roads are so bad out there it's not worth it," said Robert Strub, front desk clerk at the Days Inn.
The snow started to fall late Wednesday afternoon and continued in to the night. Leaving some folks, no other choice but to park the car, and trade the road for a room.
Joice Wheeler and her family are from Cedar Rapids. They're in town for a bridal shower. The shower isn't until Saturday but they decided to come a whole two days earlier just because of the snow.
"Just be here Friday and Saturday night, now we'll be here Thursday, Friday, Saturday night. Which is fine," said Wheeler.
And between hot tubs and hot coffee, where else would you rather be snowed in on the first major snow storm of the season.
The Days Inn says by the end of the Thursday night it expects to see around 30 people choose to be stranded in the hotel than out on the roads.
