Second ranked Lawton-Bronson is headed to the Class 2A semifinals at the IGHSAU State Basketball Tournament after a 71-67 first round win Monday night over Iowa City-Regina. Josie Kopal paced the Eagles with a 23 point performance. Now (24-1) Lawton-Bronson faces either Maquoketa Valley or IKM-Manning in the next round.

Central Lyon and Western Christian joined Newell-Fonda as 1st round winners at the IGHSAU State Basketball Tournament.
Making it's first tourney appearance, Central Lyon got past Earlham 67-43. Lexi Ackerman paced the Lions with 25 points and 16 rebounds. Central Lyon faces Burlington Notre Dame in the semifinals.
Defending 2A champion Western Christian made easy work of Pella Christian. The Wolfpack picked up a 65-28 win after leading by 20 points at halftime. Alissa Pollema and Shae DeJager each netted 10 points. Western Christian advances to the semifinals Thursday at 11:45AM.
Lawton-Bronson takes the floor in Des Moines later Monday night.

Newell-Fonda tipped off the 2013 IGHSAU State Basketball Tournament with an impressive win Monday morning. The Mustangs blew past Villisca 75-28 and face Marquette Catholic Wednesday night in a Class 1A semifinal. The Mustangs (23-2) were led by Renee Maneman's 15 points, 4 rebounds and 4 steals.
