It's news students were shocked to hear.
"You hear about people loosing a parent maybe even both parents but this is not like that. It's so much more. It's her whole family. It's devastating to think of," said Courtney Kroeze, a Northwestern College Junior.
Northwestern College sophomore and Sioux Falls native, Brittany Vollmer lost her parents James and Julie, as well as her 16 year-old sister Alyssa, and her 13 year-old brother Caleb in a single car accident on I-90 west of Sioux Falls on Saturday.
When something this tragic happens, it affects almost everyone on campus.
"The whole campus is hurt by it. We're hurt for Brittany because we love her," said the college's chaplain, Harlan VanOort.
And that hurt has many turning to prayer.
"We can't even figure out what to tell her. We all want to help her out but there's no way we can do anything besides pray and know that she's loved," said Kali Wolkow, a sophomore at the college.
Students said Brittany is currently staying with grandparents in Sioux Falls as she tries to deal with this tragedy.
Northwestern is planning to have a gathering Monday night to continue to pray for Brittany and her family.
Visitation for the family will be Thursday night and the funeral will be Friday morning at Sioux Falls Christian School in Sioux Falls.
More details will be released on the Sioux Falls' Trinity Baptist Church's website at http://tbcsiouxfalls.org/.
