"CP-3" or "Cancer Prevention Study-3" is the latest study the American Cancer Society is doing.

Here in Siouxland, the group is working to recruit at least 700 people for the "long-term study", which will be about 20 to 30 years.

The goal is to figure out what factors in our lifestyles and environment cause some people to get cancer and others to not.

"If we can gain information from 'Cancer Prevention Study-3' to equip researchers and doctors at the level our society is growing, just think of all the great cures, drugs, treatments, all those things we can do to help to prevent cancer and lessen the burden it has on our society," said Charles Reed of the American Cancer Society.

If you're interested in taking part, you must be between the ages of 30 to 65 years old and never been diagnosed with cancer.
