National Guard members deployed out of the 185th Air Refueling Wing in Sioux City got the homecoming they deserve on Sunday.

Over 160 air men and women with the 185th were deployed to 12 locations across the globe this year.

Many have been home for months but the annual "Welcome Home Ceremony" is a chance for the Guard members and family members to celebrate their journey and their accomplishments.

Colonel Brian A. Miller said to the audience, "What we're really here for, why we wear this uniform is to be ready to deploy down range and do our nation's business. We're the best unit in the country and it's like hey! This place is really hitting on all cylinders."

SSgt. Melissa Wulf said, "There is a great amount of people at this organization and everybody really puts forth for their sacrifice and all of us work together, it's a great organization to be a part of."

Colonel Brian Miller said deployment rate is likely to remain at the normal pace, if not a little slower.

Now, this group of men and women returning home is minus one special member. You'll remember Tech Sergeant Cory Mildenstein died last April while deployed in Puerto Rico. He died off-duty while swimming at a beach.
