At Monday night's Sioux City City Council Study Session, an update on possible improvements to West 7th St.

The road's home to history, diversity and some of Sioux City's favorite restaurants, but it's also home to poor infrastructure, paving and sidewalks.

So, Sioux City's Neighborhood Services is hoping to add landscaping, façade improvements, pedestrian utilities improvements, and local art.

"We have really have a unique opportunity here to take a lot of public input and design something special for this area. With the wide public right of way that we have, we're looking at all sorts of things," said Jill Wanderscheid, Neighborhood Services Supervisor.

Later this year, the City will hold a "Better Block" event where landscaping and amenities are added to West 7th for just one day so the public can see what improvements could look like.

The first public meeting on West 7th improvements will be next Tuesday at 3pm at Girls Inc.
