The competition was really heating up Tuesday as 14 high school teams went head to head in a Mock trial tournament at Morningside College.

Hosted by Morningside, teams went at it in a case about a patient who died from cancer. Prosecutors were accusing the patient's doctor of mal-practice, and taking cancer cells from the patients body for cancer research, without permission.

Dillan Smith, a senior at St. Mary's in Storm Lake said he's done around 15 mock trials, but that to him, this one was a little special.

"I've gotten to the point where I'm not so nervous for it. Besides, I have to do a closing so that's a big speech. So I'm a little nervous for that," he said.

The tournament is one-of-ten regional competitions throughout Iowa, leading up to the state tournament in Des Moines at the end of this month
