West High School in Sioux City took part in its 8th annual "Pink Day."

Students and staff members wore pink clothing, even dyed their hair pink to benefit breast cancer research.

The students raised money through bake sales, T-shirt sales and some teachers even made a donation for every student that wore pink.

Cathy Vanhsay, a West High Senior said, "It shows that West High isn't just a school. It's a school that wants to get involved with the community, wants to do something and show that we're actually doing something."

Alex Ki, a West High Junior said, "When I see all my friends and the student body when they do it, it feels good because I know we're making a difference."

Last year, West High raised $2,000 on "Pink Day" and hope to reach that mark again this year.

All proceeds go to Susan G. Komen For The Cure.
